Case Studies
Rancho Cabrillo Water District
In 2001, Rancho Cabrillo Water District needed a communications system to
automatically control water level and flow throughout their community water
system. They have multiple storage tanks and pumping locations over a 5-
mile area. They turned to EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS for help.
We were able to design and install a Data Flow System manufactured by
RITRON to provide the control and coverage they needed. This system has
the through-put capacity required and is flexible, expandable and
customizable. They are able to coordinate and control all of their activities,
which has provided for greater overall efficiency
Soka University
In 2000, Soka University was nearing completion of a 100 + acre, 15 building
campus in Aliso Viejo, CA. Many challenges exist in constructing and opening
a university and they knew that communications would be critical, from
coordinating completion of the construction to the facility and maintenance
services and campus safety.
EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS designed and installed a communications system
that provided communications throughout the campus including repeater
systems manufactured by MOTOROLA, bi-directional amplifiers by CELWAVE
with distributed antenna systems. We were able to provide coverage in all
essential areas including subterranean and high concrete locations. With a
quality communications system as a foundation, Soka University is ready to
move ahead into the future.
Chet Holyfield Federal Building
In 1998, EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS was contracted to enhance radio
communications signal coverage for the Chet Holyfield Federal Building in
Laguna Niguel, CA. The building covers 1.5 million sq ft and includes
subterranean area. Housing various federal departments, the pyramid shaped
building was built in the 1950’s, and was actually designed to repel radar,
which severely hampered radio frequency coverage. Additionally, there were
different departments and other federal building properties with existing
equipment requiring interoperable communications with this facility. This
provided a large challenge for even the most seasoned communications
veteran.
After a thorough on–site survey, our engineering staff designed a solution that
included a bi-directional antenna system utilizing TIMES-MIRROR Radiax
coaxial cable, distributed antenna system and pattern antennas to achieve
improved coverage throughout the property. Also a tone remote system by
CONNECT SYSTEMS was installed and hardwired through the local telephone
provider to centralize dispatching and communications with other properties.
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company
In 1995, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company needed to update their
communications system for their 14-acre property with over 500 employees.
With several departments relying heavily on communications to provide “5
Star” service and a variety of coverage issues with their existing system, they
needed a comprehensive solution from a quality company.
EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS successfully implemented multiple radio and
paging systems for their property, providing seamless coverage that allows
each department to operate at the highest efficiency. The system included
several repeaters manufactured by MOTOROLA, paging transmitters by D X
RADIO SYSTEMS, alphanumeric paging controllers by ZETRON, bi-directional
amplifiers by CELWAVE and related antenna systems.
Due to the successful implementation and effectiveness of their
communications system, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has had EAGLE
COMMUNICATIONS provide systems for many other properties.
State of California
In 1992, the State of California, in cooperation with the Orange County
Transportation Authority and California Highway Patrol embarked on a test
program for easing transportation on freeways by providing free towing and
related services for stranded motorists. The effectiveness of the
communications system for the operators and dispatchers was critical to the
success of the program.
For the initial thirty units to be deployed, the governing bodies had estimated
a budget for communications equipment at $ 500,000.00. Various other
companies submitted several different system configuration proposals, all of
which were well in excess of $ 400,000.00 and most of which exceeded the
estimated budget. EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS submitted a system design that
encompassed all of their requirements and was flexible and expandable to
allow for future growth and future needs. EAGLE COMMUNICATIONS won
the bid and completed the system for less than forty six thousand dollars.
Because of the success of the program and the overall system features and
design, the communications system has become the model for implementation
of the program throughout the state. These systems have been operational
for over 10 years and are still in use today. The program was a great success
and you may know it as the Freeway Service Patrol.
